THE MEGHAN SPARKLE EFFECT
1st December 2017
As far as engagements go it doesn’t get much better than a royal proposal. As excitement sweeps the nation following news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent engagement and royal wedding viewing parties are pencilled in diaries for May 2018, the retail industry is already benefiting with many reporting a positive impact on sales which they are attributing to royal wedding fever.
Many UK department stores reported record sales of white coats this week after Megan debuted her winter white design in the grounds of Kensington Place. And as expected the exact version she wore by Canadian brand Line the Label, sold out in less than an hour and crashed the retailers’ website.
However, it is the jewellery industry that is really set to reap the rewards of this regal announcement. As couples across the nation look to the couple for inspiration, ROX has already received three inquiries from clients looking to purchase a diamond engagement ring that mirror’s the style of Meghan’s.
The stunning trilogy style, designed by Prince Harry himself, looks set to be one of the most popular engagement ring designs for 2017 / 2018. And on the back of the enquires received by ROX in the 48 hours following the news, the jeweller’s in-house design team is working on a new design featuring a cushion cut diamond with round brilliant diamonds on either side.
Commenting on the design and the recent Megan Markel effect, Kyron Keogh, Managing Director of ROX said: “We pride ourselves on being one of UK’s leading engagement and wedding ring specialists. We work closely with our team of designers and craftsmen to ensure we are introducing the most exciting collections into our stores and online. Because we design and create each piece of jewellery in-house, we can be very reactive to trends and the demands of our customers.
“Prince Harry has added a real personal touch to the ring with heartfelt additions of diamonds reportedly taken from a brooch owned by his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales on the 20th anniversary year of her death which makes Meghan’s ring all the more poignant and priceless.”
“As we have seen with the Duchess of Cambridge, royal brides are trend setters and we are anticipating many more grooms and brides-to-be requesting a similar style of ring. We handpicked diamonds yesterday for a new ROX design inspired by Meghan’s ring that we hope to have available for sale before Christmas.
“Harry has designed a spectacular and wearable ring that Meghan clearly loves and by all accounts nailed the perfect romantic proposal too, so good on him!”
He continued: “The run up to Christmas is traditionally a busy period for engagement rings with Christmas Day being one of the most popular days for a proposal. As a result we always see a surge in engagement ring sales in November and December.
“We are looking forward to a busy festive period and hope that royal wedding fever gives a welcome boost to the nation’s affection for a romantic Christmas proposal.”
Here we offer a little inspiration for couples looking to capture the charm of Meghan’s showstopper.
