BRAEMAR HIGHLAND GATHERING 2018
A ROYAL AFFAIR
3rd September 2018
ROX took diamonds and thrills on the road on Saturday (September 1) as valued friends joined us for a day of Scottish hospitality and healthy competition at the Braemar Highland Gathering.
We were thrilled to partner with official timekeeper Hublot at the annual extravaganza, offering guests the chance indulge in a truly Scottish spectacle. Thousands of spectators filled the historic games field to support international and military athletes in a day of traditional Scottish events. From caber tossing and heavy competitions to pipe band championships and dancing competitions – it was a reel highland fling! Visitors were also treated to a special flypast of a Lockheed C-130 Hercules to mark 100 years of the RAF.
Meanwhile, friends of ROX soaked up the atmosphere sipping on champagne and enjoying a mouthwatering lunch and afternoon tea in the Hublot marquee.
Once again Her Majesty The Queen enjoyed an afternoon of stellar sportsmanship and was all smiles as she arrived with Prince Charles, Princess Anne, the Duke of Rothesay and other members of the Royal Family. As well taking the time to make the most of the action on the field, The Queen took the time to present competition winners with prizes and officially opened Braemar’s new Highland Games Centre – named after her son the Duke of Rothesay.
The Braemar Highland Gathering has long been a royal affair. Queen Victoria was the first monarch to make the journey to the Braemar Highland Gathering in 1848 and a reigning monarch has attended regularly ever since – with Queen Elizabeth first visiting the Games at the tender age of seven.
ROX Edinburgh welcomed an all-star line-up for an evening of champagne, cocktails and diamonds and thrills at the annual ROX Fringe extravaganza on Thursday (August 23).
The sweeping fairways of one of Scotland’s most prestigious links courses once again provided the ultimate backdrop for the Hublot Golf Cup on Monday, July 9. Friends of ROX were invited to enjoy a day of sunshine, friendly competition and the best of Scottish hospitality at the annual tournament.
It was a day of competition, sunshine and great company at the Braemar Highland Gathering 2017. We were thrilled to join Hublot, official timekeeper of the games, along with valued friends of ROX at the annual highland extravaganza.
