BREMONT JAGUAR MKII WHITE
A BREED APART
5th May 2017
British watchmaker Bremont take a lot of pride in the partnerships they are able to nurture, and in the resulting timepieces. Considering this drive – and Bremonts’ British heritage – collaboration with Jaguar makes perfect sense, and we have been blown away by every watch created thus far. The focus of the partnership has always been the Jaguar E-type, an icon of British motoring, and a car described by Enzo Ferrari as the most beautiful in the world.
New for 2017 this Bremont Jaguar MKII is also a tribute to the E-type, but has been designed to commemorate a particularly memorable race – won by a lightweight E-type. The 1963 12 hours of Sebring was dominated by two lightweight E-types, but it was the number 23 car – finished in Old English White and with its’ red and blue stripes – that crossed the line first. Bremont have paid homage to this victory with the new MKII White, and in choosing the contrasting white a black on the dial have also picked up on one of the most popular dial finishes in watchmaking.
Elements of E-type design are visible all over this timepiece, for example the newly redesigned hands are intended to resemble those found on the dashboard, and there is even a subtle red-line quadrant on the seconds counter. The contrast between the white dial and the black sub-dials gives a beautifully clean feel to the MKII, and keeps the watch looking smart and uncluttered. Continuing the racing theme the familiar blue calf leather strap is now finished with contrasting red stitching – another nod to the successful 1963 car.
Keeping the Sebring MKII ticking is a modified calibre BE-50AE self-winding COSC chronometer tested movement featuring 28 jewels, an Anachron balance spring and offering a minimum of 42 hours power-reserve. The movement is also displayed through a sapphire case-back, and has been decorated with a rotor designed to resemble an original E-type steering wheel. The case of the MKII is polished and scratch resistant coated, meaning the watch not only looks stunning, but is as tough and as hard wearing as you could possibly want.
This watch is available to view in our Argyll Arcade boutique and online now.
