UNVEILING A LEGEND

ROX Unveils Zenith Collection

Since it was founded in 1865 by George Favre-Jacot Zenith has long been a brand to push boundaries.

It revolutionised watch production by uniting all watchmaking professions under one roof to create a Manufacture and has been taking bold strides to the future ever since. However, it was in 1969 that the brand firmly secured its place in the history books as it unveiled the El Primero – the first ever integrated automatic chronograph movement which is still the world’s most precise series-made caliber. It is the only one capable of measuring short times to the nearest tenth of a second, thanks to its balance oscillating at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour.

With so many iconic achievements to celebrate, it would be easy for Zenith to hark back to a by-gone era but that’s never been what the brand with the guiding star has aspired to. It always has and always will strive to create truly forward thinking timepieces whilst remaining true to its rich heritage.

Here we shine a spotlight on some unique models from the brand.

El Primero Titanium Defy Watch

EL PRIMERO TITANIUM DEFY WATCH

Putting a contemporary twist on a classic design, the El Primero Defy 21 cuts an impressive figure on the wrist. Its skeletonised dial, titanium case and new movement have taken the classic model to the next level. Cased in a 44mm case, similar to that of the original El Primero, this luxury timepiece is powered by the new El Primero 21 caliber with COSC chronometer certification.

El Primero Chronomaster Watch

EL PRIMERO CHRONOMASTER WATCH

For those who prefer a more traditional feel to their timepieces, the El Primero Chronomaster is a must have. This model is a faithful reproduction of a vintage classic, with the original movement. As you would expect the fully integrated chronograph caliber is composed of 278 parts, 31 jewels and a balance wheel that beats at 5Hz frequency.

Pilot Bronze Extra Special Watch

PILOT BRONZE EXTRA SPECIAL WATCH

See that “Pilot” on the dial? Amazingly, after a rummage through the archives, Zenith only recently discovered it held the exclusive rights to have that word printed on their dials. And for good reason – even Louis Blériot himself wore one of their watches during his pioneering cross-Channel flight in 1909. But these no-nonsense aviator watches also acquit themselves nobly “in the field”, with a big crown making it easy to adjust with gloves on. And now, duly kitted out with Zenith’s famous El Primero chronograph, things get even more interesting with a case forged from bronze.
