Sharing a combined passion for new developments in technology and a commitment to creating the best product possible, the partnership between Hublot and Ferrari could only ever result in exceptional watches.

The brand new Big Bang Unico Ferrari exhibits many intriguing features not found on other Unico timepieces – or any previous Ferrari models. The case is 45mm in diameter, a familiar size to fans of the Unico, and features the ingenious ‘one-click’ strap change mechanism – a useful feature as the Ferrari is supplied on a red stitched black alcantara and rubber strap with an additional strap finished in black schedoni leather.

One of the most obvious developments is seen on the bezel, which has been redesigned to feature countersunk notches which house the H-screws. On the crown side of the timepiece, the Unico Ferrari displays a red line detail, a styling cue taken from the groove on the rear of the LaFerrari, and the elongated pushers are fixed to a rotating shaft, meaning they operate in the same way as the pedals on a car.

The dial has also been completely redesigned. The minute and hour hands are designed to have a much greater contrast with the rest of the dial, which improves legibility. The hands, indices and numerals on this Carbon model are all highlighted in red, which looks great with the black bezel and case, and also brings a masculine appeal to the timepiece. The second counter at 9 o’clock resembles an air extractor, and is a creative take on an often forgotten element of watch design.

Right at the beating at the heart of the new Ferrari timepiece is the incredible hublot Unico chronograph movement. As a flyback column wheel chronograph movement the Unico is capable of accurately timing intervals, and has a power reserve of 70 hours. The oscillating weight at the rear of the watch is designed to resemble the iconic star spoke design of Ferrari wheel rims.

Of all the pieces released at SIHH 2017, nothing piqued our curiosity quite like the Hublot Big Bang Unico GMT. Timepieces with a GMT complication have always been among the most desirable, and the ability to display additional timezones has proved a useful feature.
