HUBLOT AMBASSADOR CLAIMS WIN AT THE MASTERS AT AUGUSTA
9th April 2018
Congratulations are in order for Hublot ambassador Patrick Reed who held off stiff competition on the greens to claim his first major title win at the Masters at Augusta.
Reed had been ahead since the second round of the competition managed to hold off competition from Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and fellow Ryder Cup team mates Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler, winning on 15 under.
It isn’t the first time the Reed and McIlroy have vied for the top spot at a major tournament as the duo hit the headlines for their fierce fight to the finish at the 2016 Ryder Cup.
However, it was victory for world number 24 Reed as a disappointing final day saw McIlroy finish in fifth place. Speaking of his emphatic win, 27-year-old Reed told the BBC: “I knew it was going to be tough.
“Any time trying to close off a golf tournament is really hard but to close off my first major at a place that’s so close to me, being where I went to college, means so much.”
Hublot first announced pro-golfer Reed as an official ambassador last summer.
Speaking of the appointment, Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe said: “It is an honour to add another world-famous professional golfer to our esteemed roster of brand ambassadors, all of whom are inspirations to both Hublot and our clients. Patrick’s astounding achievements through his perseverance and commitment to his celebrated career have made him a great fit for Hublot, and we look forward to this exciting partnership.”
Meanwhile Reed added:, “I am really proud to join the Hublot family and their team of golfers. Hublot is a brand I have long had an affinity for, and one I have proudly sported on my wrist for quite some time. I look forward to continuing my support for the brand in this new capacity.”
Reed was joined at the head of The Masters leaderboard by his fellow Hublot Ambassadors, Olympic Champion, Justin Rose, and world No.1, Dustin Johnson, who closed out their campaigns in ties for 10th and 12th, respectively.
The scintillating performance of its Brand Ambassadors, headlined by the continued heroics of Reed, comes amid an incredibly exciting 12 months for the brand and following the launch of the luxury watchmaker’s first golf-specific timepiece, the Big Bang Unico Golf. Inspired by the great game, the newest edition has been crafted with the golfer in mind, offering a mechanism for displaying the number of strokes taken and counts the strokes per hole.
